Kawaii (Research)

Kawaii in Japanese means cute. From this research I will adapt this style into my designs for my new ice cream characters. I see that they use a lot of black outlines, pastel colours and big bold eyes to present expressions/emotions that the character is going through.

Evaluation of First Outcome

I think there are some improvements that can be made from this animation. Firstly the characters didn't look professionally made, originally I thought the hand-drawn characters would have some sort of charm to them but in actual fact they just looked awful. So from this I will create some new characters in photoshop drawing inspiration from my research and previous designs.

Secondly I think I need to develop a certain style for the characters. I think doing the characters in a Kawaii sort of style would suit as they are charming and quite cute. This would make my audience pay more attention to them.

There are some good aspects to the animation like the music timing and the colours I have used, but I want to make the ice creams more life like maybe adding drip movements in it? Possibly some more characters with a bit more personality to them?

All in all after doing this first draft I have a better idea of what I need to do now to make this animation more successful.

Music Trimming

Here I have trimmed the selected part of my track, hopefully it will fit well with animation.

This is the soundtrack in full, hopefully from my calculations I would have cropped the right bit to fit with my animation.

These are all the individual scenes of the animation. Next I will piece the scenes together to see how it the animation flows and to see what improvements I need to make.

Space Background (Research)

Here I have done research on space images as i have changed my storyboard to where the ice cream jumps into space, so i need to create a space background and hopefully this research will help me make one.

Ice Cream (Research)

These are some ice cream images that I have found that will help me create my characters from. I will draw inspiration from the ice cream forms and create my own characters from them. I have noticed that a lot of the ice creams are either pastel colours or sharp vibrant hues.
